Profile

Welcome to the galleries of janetmariephotography.com.

My interest in photography is of long-standing duration.  My father developed his own photos when I was growing up, and I had my own camera from an early age.  I studied photography at Auckland Teacher's Training College from 1975-6. I had my own darkroom where I spent many hours developing black and white photographs.

My passion for photography has strengthened and broadened over the years and I find myself constantly looking at the world as if through the lens of a camera, often seeing details others miss.

My image-making covers a wide range of genres from traditional landscapes to fine art digital work.  I admire the work of Ansel Adams, Laurence Aberhart, Robin Morrison, Henri Cartier- Bresson, Keith Carter, James Nactheway and Harry Benson.

I currently work with digital cameras; my PC is my darkroom and Photoshop is my enlarger.  Recently I discovered the quality of images created by simple toy cameras and am currently exploring the Holga's potential.  I am a member of the AIPA (Advertising & Illustrative Photographers Association).

I love beauty and light.
I love colour and texture.
I love form and composition.
I love capturing all these things, in parcels of time, with my camera.

I hope you enjoy your visit as you journey through these pages ;-)

Thanks for looking...
